35CrMoV is an alloy structural steel that achieves a perfect balance between 1080MPa tensile strength and 71J impact energy by virtue of its 0.30-0.38% carbon content and the synergistic effect of chromium , molybdenum and vanadium . It has both hardenability, thermal strength and fatigue resistance, and is an ideal choice for manufacturing parts with complex working conditions.
chemical compositionThe performance of alloy structural steel is closely related to its chemical composition. The main chemical composition and functions of 35CrMoV are as follows:
Effect of element content.Carbon (C) 0.30 - 0.38% is one of the key elements that determine the strength of steel. An appropriate amount of carbon can provide sufficient strength while avoiding the reduction of steel toughness due to excessive carbon content.
Chromium (Cr) About 1.00 - 1.30% Can improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of steel.
Molybdenum (Mo) 0.20 - 0.30% can improve the hot strength , resistance to temper softening and wear resistance of steel, and also help reduce the temper brittleness of steel.
Vanadium (V) 0.10 - 0.20% It has the effect of refining the grains in steel, improving the strength and toughness of steel, and enhancing the fatigue resistance of steel.
Silicon (Si) is generally 0.17 - 0.37% and can improve the strength of steel.
Manganese (Mn) 0.40 - 0.70% can increase the hardenability of steel.
Sulfur (S) The allowable residual content is ≤0.035%. It is a harmful element and excessive content will affect the quality of steel.
Nickel (Ni) Allowable residual content ≤ 0.030%
Copper (Cu) allowable residual content ≤ 0.025%
Performance characteristics
Good comprehensive mechanical properties
It has high strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. Its tensile strength can reach about 1080MPa, yield strength is about 930MPa, elongation is not less than 10%, cross-sectional shrinkage is not less than 50%, and impact absorption energy is not less than 71J. This good comprehensive performance enables it to withstand complex load conditions.
Higher hardenability
Due to the presence of alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum and manganese, the steel has good hardenability. This means that during the quenching process, it can obtain a deeper hardened layer, which is conducive to the manufacture of large or complex-shaped parts and can ensure the uniformity of the performance of the entire part.
Good thermal strength
In high temperature environments, 35CrMoV can still maintain a certain strength and toughness. For example, in the temperature range of 500-550℃, its performance is relatively stable and can be used in some application scenarios that need to withstand higher temperatures.
Good anti-fatigue performance
The alloy elements and reasonable organizational structure in the steel give it good fatigue resistance, and it can work for a long time under alternating loads without easily developing fatigue cracks. It is suitable for parts that are subjected to repeated stress.
