It is commonly used for moderately pressurized water storage tanks, oil separators, air receivers, and industrial heat exchangers that operate at temperatures up to 650°F (343°C) when design codes allow for de-rating. Its superior forming characteristics make it suitable for dished heads, rolled cylinders, and cone transitions. Designers often select Grade 60 over Grade 70 when forming operations involve severe bending or when lower residual stress levels are desired.
