What is ordinary low alloy structural steel steel plate

Ordinary low alloy structural steel refers to the addition of a small or trace amount of alloying elements (such as Si, V, Ti, Mn, Mo, Nb, Cu, B, RE, etc.) to ordinary carbon steel, and its total mass fraction does not exceed 5% , and the performance of the steel changes, and the steel with better performance than ordinary carbon steel is obtained, such as high strength, and special properties such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and low temperature resistance.

Since the total amount of alloy core elements added to this steel is not large, this type of alloy steel belongs to low alloy steel. Its smelting method is similar to that of ordinary carbon steel, and the cost is not high, so it is called ordinary low-alloy structural steel, or ordinary low-alloy steel for short. It is a low-alloy steel widely used in welded structures.

Ordinary low alloy structural steel can be divided into two categories: strength steel and special steel. Strength steel is characterized by high strength, good plasticity and toughness, and good weldability. The strength steel is divided into six grades: 300, 350, 400, 450.500, 550~600MPa according to the yield point of the steel. For example, the commonly used 16Mn steel belongs to the 350MPa class, and the 18MnMoNb steel belongs to the 500MPa class.

Special steel can be divided into three categories: corrosion-resistant steel, low-temperature steel, and pearlitic heat-resistant steel.
