With low and intermediate tensile strength, hot rolled ASTM A283 plate is mainly for general intermediate strength applications. ASTM A283 plate covers 4 grade levels: A283 Grade A plate, A283 Grade B plate, A283 Grade C plate, A283 Grade D plate.
The main difference of 4 grades ASTM A283 plate lies in carbon content. The lower the grade, the lower carbon content it contains. The difference of carbon content further leads to differences in tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. The higher the carbon content, the higher the tensile strength and yield strength, and the lower the elongation.
