Hardenability of 20CrMo steel steel plate

20CrMo steel is 20Mn2 steel with chromium content higher than 1 and slightly higher carbon content. It has better hardenability, but it is easy to crack during quenching, so the weldability is poor. Generally used to manufacture parts that do not require too much mechanical properties, such as small stamping die and embossing die. 20CrMo steel is used in the manufacture of automotive engine press cylinder, transmission gear, diesel crankshaft, spring, etc. When the thickness of 20CrMo steel forgings is 1~10 mm, cold working process can be used. When its thickness is greater than 10 mm, it can be processed by hot work. Steel forging temperature between 850~950℃. 20CrMo steel has high hardness and good wear resistance after quenching.

Hardenability of 20CrMo steel

The hardenability of 20CrMo steel is better than that of 20 CrMnSiA, but cracking occurs easily at high temperature due to the stress concentration caused by carbide segregation. So usually water cooling, oil cooling. After quenching, the hardness is high, the wear resistance is good, generally up to 58~62 HRC.

The hardenability of 20CrMo steel is worse than that of 20 MnSiA, which is 40-50 HRC, and the toughness is lower. Since 20CrMo steel does not contain carbon, its carbon content ranges from 2.0% to 2.0%, so it can be strengthened by heat treatment. 20CrMo steel contains a lot of pearlite structure, so the toughness is very low (only 18~24 HRC). Its hardenability and strength are very high (about 56~62 HRC).

20CrMo steel has good quenchability, high temperature impact resistance and low temperature toughness. Can be used to manufacture parts that do not require too much hardenability: such as small stamping die or embodying die.

The hardness of 20CrMo steel can reach 62~62 HRC after quenching or high temperature tempering at 650~700℃, and 58~62 HRO after tempering at 600℃. For the manufacture of medium carbon steel or low alloy steel stamping die and embossing die; Used for manufacturing medium and high strength structural parts: such as connecting rod, crankshaft, gear, etc.
