Effect of Cu and Cr on corrosion resistance of corten B weather resistant steel under marine atmosph steel plate

In the marine environment containing Cl-, the increase of Cr content is helpful to slow down the corrosion rate of corten B weather resistant steel in the early stage. Increasing the content of Cu is helpful to slow down the development trend of corrosion of corten B weather resistant steel in later period.

Corten B weather resistant steel with high Cr and low Cu exhibit slight corrosion in the early stage, but it is not conducive to slowing down the development trend of corrosion in the later stage, that is, simply increasing the content of Cr can not fundamentally improve the atmospheric corrosion resistance of corten B weather resistant steel; corten B weather resistant steel with high Cu and low Cr show a good corrosion development trend in the later stage, but considering the serious corrosion in the early stage, they resume in nature. When used in miscellaneous environment, such as the influence of external stress, structural damage may occur ahead of time. Therefore, simply increasing the content of Cu can not improve the corrosion resistance of corten B weather resistant steel. When the content of Cu and Cr alloying elements in corten B weather resistant steel is increased at the same time, the corrosion resistance of corten B weather resistant steel is improved obviously.
