In March, China exported 1.21 million tons of steel bars, down 4.9% from the same period last year; in January-March, China exported 3.8 million tons, up 3.8% from the same period last year. In March, China imported 80,000 tons of iron and steel bars, down 14.1% year-on-year; in January-March, it imported 240,000 tons, down 6.7% year-on-year.
In March, China exported 158 tons of scrap steel, down 99.5% from a year earlier; in January-March, China exported 1740 tons, down 98.9% from a year earlier. In March, China imported 30,000 tons of scrap steel, down 85.1% from the same period last year; in January-March, it imported 60,000 tons, down 86.6% from the same period last year.
