The weatherproof and corrosion resistance characteristics of corten B steel plates

The excellent corrosion resistance of corten B steel plates is due to the formation of a dense rust layer on the surface of the corten B steel, which prevents the continuous growth of the rust by isolating the steel matrix from the air. The special elements contained in corten B steel plates, after contact with the atmosphere, form a layer of oxide film. This solid film makes corten B steel plates isolated from the outside world and is no longer affected by the climate, and the purpose of weather resistance and corrosion resistance is achieved.

The formation of oxide films on corten B steel plates is related to climatic factors. Generally speaking, climatic factors include temperature, sunshine time, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, carbon dioxide and salt content in the atmosphere. Usually these factors are directly proportional to the corrosion rate. Due to different regional, environmental and climatic factors, the time of formation of stable oxide film on corten B steel plates is also very different.
